Monitoring

Volcano monitoring is an essential part of planning for future volcanic hazards.

The proposed USGS National Volcanic Early Warning System designates Mount Hood as a ‘very high threat volcano’ based on it’s eruptive style and proximity to large communities (e.g., Portland, Oregon; Vancouver, Washington).
